[Beijing, China, December 10, 2014]: Huawei today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Black Lotus, a leading Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service provider to provide enterprises with professional and efficient anti-DDoS products and services that address the challenges of new DDoS attack types. The partnership will focus on research and development (R&D) in cyber defense technology and marketing.
"Our Hybrid DDoS mitigation services combine Black Lotus’ scalable cloud-based DDoS mitigation protection technology with Huawei’s on-premise Anti-DDoS appliances to ensure that our customers are protected against multi-vector attacks of all sizes," said Frank Ip, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Black Lotus.
"Huawei offers advanced security products and solutions that have been deployed by mega Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) such as Tencent and Alibaba in China and the Netherlands’ national Internet Service Provider (ISP) NBIP," said Liu Lizhu, Vice President, Switch & Enterprise Communications Product Line, Huawei. "With Black Lotus, Huawei will continue to build a secure cyber environment by equipping enterprises with leading anti-DDoS products to enhance threat emergency response preparedness."
In recent years, new DDoS attack-related trends have emerged. According to a Forbes China report published in November 2014, DDoS attacks reached an unprecedented rate of 500 Gbps per second. As DDoS attack traffic continues to grow, there has also been an increase in application attacks and cloud-based Cybercrime-as-a-Service (CaaS) has become increasingly prevalent. To help enterprises mitigate this increase in DDoS attacks, the collaboration will combine Huawei’s industry-leading anti-DDoS products and technical expertise with Black Lotus’ professional anti-DDoS services. Huawei’s anti-DDoS products offer the best performance across the industry and its anti-DDoS solution has a global active botnet database and an IP reputation database, which is important as botnets are the main source of DDoS attacks. Black Lotus will supplement Huawei’s solution with advanced DDoS protection service capabilities.
Huawei and Black Lotus will work together on a market development plan that will initially focus on Western Europe and expand to other South Pacific and North American markets. The companies are currently working together to expand Black Lotus’ Amsterdam scrubbing center capacity to help European ISPs and small and medium-sized enterprises address challenges of increasingly severe DDoS attacks. Black Lotus also plans to establish DDoS scrubbing centers in Australia and other countries across Asia Pacific. In addition, the companies will conduct research and publish a joint report on global DDoS attack trends around new DDoS attacks types as part of the MoU.
Together, Huawei and Black Lotus will help enterprises mitigate an increase in DDoS attacks through offering the world’s best-in-class threat emergency response services.

Black Lotus Partners with CloudSigma to Provide Enhanced DDoS Protection in Cloud Environments

International Customers Can Now Leverage the Customizable, Enterprise-Scale Cybersecurity Solution for a More Seamless, Protected Cloud Experience

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Black Lotus, a leader in availability security and provider of distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, today announced a partnership with CloudSigma, a public cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider with advanced hybrid hosting solutions. As DDoS attacks become increasingly common across industries, it is crucial for cloud providers to consider the cybersecurity of their customers. By partnering with Black Lotus, CloudSigma’s customers are afforded enhanced protection, ensuring they aren’t at risk for wasted time or resources in the event of a targeted DDoS attack.
“Recent research shows that nearly 40 percent of enterprises are unprepared for DDoS attacks, which can be very hard to recover from”
For a global cloud provider like CloudSigma that services major enterprises across markets, a basic, automated DDoS mitigation offering is insufficient. As DDoS methods grow more complex, countermeasures require a larger portion of a business’ IT team to manage the attack, pulling employees away from their primary responsibilities and incurring significant losses in revenue as a result. Black Lotus provides hands-on, customizable protection that takes into account the environments at stake to give CloudSigma customers the guaranteed around-the-clock uptime that they rely on for optimum productivity and maximum profits.
“Recent research shows that nearly 40 percent of enterprises are unprepared for DDoS attacks, which can be very hard to recover from,” said Robert Jenkins, chief executive officer at CloudSigma. “Our partnership with Black Lotus enhances our existing core infrastructure DDoS protection with a more user-focused, customizable service. It will also complement our firewall policies for greater security in general, giving our customers a more seamless, protected experience in our cloud.”
Black Lotus’ Chief Security Officer and Co-Founder Shawn Marck said, “Our company’s mission is to ensure our customers – whether websites, protected servers or data centers – can go about their business without fear of censorship or disruption due to a DDoS attack. By partnering with CloudSigma, we’re able to expand into new regions and market segments and provide the proactive security-as-a-service solution that enterprises need to easily sidestep the prolonged detrimental impact an attack can have.”
Black Lotus’ DDoS protection solution is available immediately from all of CloudSigma’s cloud locations, including San Jose, Washington D.C., Miami and Honolulu in the U.S., and its dual locations in Zurich, Switzerland in Europe.
Service providers and data center companies that are interested in DDoS protection services can contact Black Lotus at sales@blacklotus.net or call 866-477-5554.

Black Lotus Joins CoreSite Open Cloud Exchange; Provides West Coast Data Center Customers Low-Latency DDoS Mitigation

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 24, 2014) - Black Lotus, a leader in availability security and provider of distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, today announced it has deployed a new scrubbing center with CoreSite Realty Corporation (CoreSite), a provider of secure, reliable, high-performance data center solutions. CoreSite's platform is one of the world's most developed customer ecosystems, serving more than 375 customers in 575,000 square feet of enterprise-class data center space. This partnership allows Black Lotus to provide additional protection through a tier-one, highly available mitigation network for the Los Angeles market, ensuring customers avoid revenue losses from large DDoS outages.

Prior to the benchmark Spamhaus attack, DDoS traffic volume had not exceeded 100 gigabytes per second (Gbps). But, the growing popularity of distributed reflection denial of service (DrDoS) attack exploitations, such as of the NTP protocol, has resulted in record-breaking attacks exceeding 400 Gbps. Black Lotus has added capacity at CoreSite's One Wilshire campus to ensure DDoS protection for customers without suffering downtime. Additionally, Black Lotus' end-to-end mitigation services are available on CoreSite's Open Cloud Exchange ecosystem and its Any2 Internet Exchange, which is the largest Internet exchange on the West Coast and second largest in the United States. The partnership adds more than 1600 Gbps of core network interconnect and more than 400 Gbps of network edge transit and peering, ensuring customers can leverage quality bandwidth and rapid return of clean traffic to its destination.

"Our data center customers are seeking cost-effective, secure, reliable network connectivity for their Internet and cloud deployments," said Brian Warren, senior vice president of product and marketing for CoreSite. "With Black Lotus, CoreSite customers can gain peace of mind when facing outages from DDoS attacks with an onsite mitigation solution in our Los Angeles campus."

"Our customers trust us to evolve and grow with the new attacks and technologies that threaten daily operations and business continuity, especially when online presence is crucial to their revenue," said Xenophon Giannis, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Black Lotus. "CoreSite provides us with an enterprise-class data center facility that is home to a high density of tier-one aggregation and transit networks, ensuring we can provide our market with the uptime upon which it relies."

As soon as a DDoS attack begins to affect Internet site availability, organizations suffer revenue and customer losses, not to mention the negative repercussions to reputations and credibility. In a recent threat research report, Black Lotus found 40 percent of the most detrimental attacks measured on its network during January 2014 were NTP DrDoS types, dwarfing the once-dominant HTTP application layer style of attack.

Service providers or data center companies that are interested in DDoS protection services can contact Black Lotus at sales@blacklotus.net or call 866-477-5554.

Expanded mitigation capacity allows service providers to deliver additional safety net to enterprises

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NSFOCUS, Inc., a global provider of solutions for distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) detection and mitigation, today announced a partnership with Black Lotus, a leader in DDoS mitigation to service providers and enterprises, to deploy scrubbing centers that will ultimately deliver to its service provider customers an additional 1,000 Gbps of DDoS mitigation capacity, well in excess of the largest known attacks weighing in at more than 300 Gbps.

Commencing with the Black Lotus location at Ashburn, Va. as the first point of presence, NSFOCUS will deploy several hundred gigabits of capacity to each site, providing an additional safety net to NSFOCUS Anti-DDoS System (ADS) customers to defend against the world's largest attacks. Many service providers that use the ADS for DDoS mitigation previously provided service only to small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Now these companies will be able to open new lines of business with enterprises that require more expansive protection and infrastructure redundancy. NSFOCUS' proprietary collaboration protocol creates automatic notification and diversion when an attack exceeds on-premise capabilities, so service providers that have deployed ADS technology can deliver lower overhead costs, latency and response time to their customers.

"Black Lotus is excited to partner with NSFOCUS to further extend our DDoS mitigation capacity to our new Ashburn location. Our company's expertise in providing competent, enterprise-grade DDoS mitigation services to hosting networks and enterprises, combined with NSFOCUS' expertise in developing and servicing best-in-breed DDoS mitigation hardware, allow us to remain competitive and stay on the cutting edge of today's increasingly large and complex DDoS threats," said Jeffrey Lyon, founder of Black Lotus. "Expanding with NSFOCUS represents a paradigm shift in the availability and quality of DDoS mitigation to companies of all types and sizes."

NSFOCUS' plan to open scrubbing centers for its service provider customers in North America completes NSFOCUS' three-tiered anti-DDoS model. At the first tier, NSFOCUS delivers on-premise ADS2000 and ADS4000 series appliance-based solutions, which are ideal to protect latency-sensitive end users from application layer attacks that are frequent, relatively small in size and short in duration. At the second tier, NSFOCUS provides comprehensive anti-DDoS capability to service provider partners via its ADS6020 and Managed Security Service (MSS) offering. Now, in partnership with Black Lotus in North America for its first launch, NSFOCUS delivers end-to-end protection through globally deployed scrubbing centers, which can mitigate attacks more than three times bigger than the largest known attack to date.

“This scrubbing center collaboration demonstrates our strong commitment to NSFOCUS’ service provider customers. DDoS attacks can cost significant losses in revenue, corporate reputation and customer trust, and they happen more often than we would like to see. The industry not only needs a level of protection to match the attack size, but also a way to seamlessly connect the end user, the service provider and the scrubbing center right at the moment when defensive measures become necessary,” said Frank Ip, vice president of U.S. operations for NSFOCUS. “NSFOCUS now delivers three tiers of security that automatically kick in as needed when an attacker launches a DDoS assault, so our partners can ensure their customers are protected even against massive attacks.”

About NSFOCUS

Founded in 2000, NSFOCUS, Inc. (NSFOCUS) provides enterprise-level, carrier-grade solutions and services for distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) mitigation, Web security and enterprise-level network security. With more than 13 years of experience in DDoS research and development and mitigation, NSFOCUS has helped customers around the world maintain high levels of Internet security, website uptime and business operations to ensure that their online systems remain available. The NSFOCUS Anti-DDoS System (ADS) empowers customers to find and fend off a variety of incidents, from simple network-layer attacks to more sophisticated and potentially damaging application-layer attacks, all while guaranteeing legitimate traffic gets through to networks and corporate-critical systems. NSFOCUS Partners with Black Lotus to Deploy DDoS Scrubbing Center in North America

By Unknown → Tuesday, November 19, 2013
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 10, 2012) - Black Lotus announced today the formal release of its Availability Assurance Partner Program, or simply (AP)2, seamlessly extending DDoS protection into the hosted services environment. (AP)2 allows providers to stop threats against service availability without incurring capital expenditures or contractual obligations.

"When hosting providers enter into partnership agreements, the typical outcome is a reseller plan which requires the provider to commit to substantial volumes in order to realize return on investment," stated Jeffrey Lyon, CISSP, CISA, President of Black Lotus. "(AP)2 is a different animal, we will be providing well established network operators in the hosted services industry the unique opportunity to provide a white label DDoS mitigation to their customers at a clean 50% margin."

Black Lotus recognized the need for defense against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks in 1999 when the first DDoS attacks were identified by CERT, but it was not until 2007 the problem began growing exponentially. Currently, hosted service providers, such as web hosting companies, are seeing an increase in lost revenue and customer attrition associated with attacks that cannot be mitigated on most service provider networks.

"We're seeing a rise in high packet per second TCP floods which cause service interruptions on even the largest enterprise hosting networks," stated Alaina Wanek, JNCIA, Network Engineer at Black Lotus. "Perhaps the most serious problem faced by hosting providers is the lack of adequate protection against application layer attacks which specifically target the web server itself."

Application layer threats, commonly referred to as Layer 7 DDoS attacks, are nearly impossible to detect and effectively mitigate with commercially available systems. (AP)2 solves this problem by transparently extending Black Lotus' DDoS mitigation technologies on to any partner network. (AP)2 partners are able to leverage Black Lotus' Human Behavior Analysis technology to solve the Layer 7 problem, thereby improving earnings and increasing account retention.
