Last month, I hosted a panel at HostingCon 2012 in Boston consisting of experts from NSFOCUS, CloudFlare, Arbor Networks, and Staminus Communications. Speaking to a crowd of hosting industry entrepreneurs, our goal was to help educate small and medium businesses on the current DDoS threat environment and measures that a hosting provider could implement to defend themselves against attacks. Unfortunately, we were limited to 45 minutes and only scratched the surface of the problem.
It was a very positive experience nonetheless, with one attendee commenting that it was the highlight of the convention. A panelist indicated that he wishes we had more time for substantive debate. To that goal, I will be inviting our panelists to return and give sessions at AvailSec 2013 in Los Angeles next May.
