Black Lotus Named to San Francisco Business Times’ 2014 List of 100
Fastest Growing Companies
DDoS mitigation provider ranked No. 30 with 295.8 percent growth over
two-year period

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Black Lotus, a leader in availability security and provider of distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection, today announced the company’s inclusion on the San Francisco Business Times’ annual list of 100 Fastest-Growing Companies in the Bay Area. The cybersecurity company reported 295.8 percent growth from 2011 to 2013, putting it at a final rank of number 30 in the overall list. As DDoS attacks continue to grow in frequency, Black Lotus’ growth is evidence of the increased industrywide recognition of the need for proactive implementation of effective cybersecurity measures.
“Our inclusion on this list is the result of long-term planning and a clear understanding of what the international enterprise market needs from its cybersecurity providers”
Since its creation in 1999, Black Lotus has been on a steady upward trajectory due to its consistent growth across both end-users and channel partners, as well as its growth in investment. Black Lotus also launched new scrubbing centers during the past year in Ashburn, Virginia and Amsterdam, both of which are capable of withstanding DDoS attacks of up to 1,000 Gbps. Lastly, the company has continued to build out its reach and audience through strategic partnerships in the data center market. Each of these initiatives demonstrates Black Lotus’ ongoing commitment to enhancing its DDoS protection technology and bringing its security-as-a-service solution to a wider market.
“Our inclusion on this list is the result of long-term planning and a clear understanding of what the international enterprise market needs from its cybersecurity providers,” said Arman Khalili, chief executive officer of Black Lotus. “We learned to make the hard decisions and take the right risks by building a multi-faceted team of staffers with diverse backgrounds, who are all more than capable of driving this company toward our end goal. By prioritizing these factors, we’ve been able to scale our company at a rapid rate and bring our vision of a safe and open Internet community to a global audience.”

Black Lotus Named to San Francisco Business Times’ 2014 List of 100 Fastest-Growing Companies

By Unknown → Tuesday, November 4, 2014
Black Lotus Ranks No. 795 on the 2014 Inc. 5000 with Three-Year Sales Growth of 574%

NEW YORK, August 20, 2014 -- Inc. magazine today ranked Black Lotus NO. 795 on its 33rd annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. Companies such as Yelp, Pandora, Timberland, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, LinkedIn, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500|5000.

“A pure-play DDoS protection company is in good company with the quickly-growing service providers on the Inc. 5000, especially as more enterprises see the financial blow caused by DDoS attacks and build Black Lotus’ offerings into IT budgets,” said Warren Dewar, chief financial officer of Black Lotus. “Our triple-digit growth has fueled our international expansion to open traffic scrubbing centers in the U.S. and Amsterdam over the last three years, with more service rolling out to address our clients’ needs for fast, reliable traffic crucial to the success of their online commerce.”

The 2014 Inc. 500, unveiled in the September issue of Inc. (available on newsstands August 20 to November 15 and on Inc.com), is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. To make the cut, companies had to have achieved a staggering minimum of 942.6% in sales growth. The Inc. 500’ s aggregate revenue is $15.2 billion, with a median three-year growth of 1,828%, generating 23,000 jobs over the past three years. Complete results of the Inc. 500|5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at http://www.inc.com/inc5000.

"What surprises me, even though I know it’s coming, is the sheer variety of the paths our entrepreneurs take to success, thematically reflecting how our economy has evolved,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “This year there are far more social media and far fewer computer hardware businesses than there were, say, six years ago. But what doesn’t change is the fearsome creativity unleashed by American entrepreneurship.”

The annual Inc. 5000 event honoring all the companies on the list will be held from October 15 through 17, 2014 in Phoenix. Speakers include some of the greatest entrepreneurs of this and past generations, such as Michael Dell, Martha Stewart, host of the CNBC show “The Profit” Marcus Lemonis, Container Store Founder and CEO Kip Tindell, and Chobani Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya.

Black Lotus Achieves Record Breaking Growth

By Unknown → Thursday, August 21, 2014
As our company continues to develop its technology and expand its presence, it’s a positive sign when others are recognizing how we’re growing and enhancing offerings. We had a lot of positive feedback during RSA when our booth visitors saw the awards we’ve won in security technology. This week, we received the great news that Red Herring selected us as a finalist for its Top 100 North America award. This list puts us in excellent company with the year’s most promising private technology ventures from across North America, including GENBAND, Rapid7 and Infinio.

This award has a long history; Red Herring has been selecting promising start-ups and "scale ups" (a phase from which we’ve almost graduated) since 1995. The finalists are evaluated individually from a pool of hundreds of candidates across the continent, spanning markets including security, software and hardware, life sciences, cloud, mobile and more. We were scored based on criteria judging our addressable market size, financing, our proof of concept and our management's expertise, among a handful of other categories.

It reinforces our team’s hard work and dedication to researching new threats and developing new technology when outside individuals and third party reviewers can look at Black Lotus’ standing and see the same exciting solutions and rapidly developing potential that we’ve been seeing from day one.

Already 2014 is proving to be an impressive year. Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring, says, "The finalists list confirms the excellent choices made by entrepreneurs and VCs and the start-ups' solid roots in corporate America, embracing their innovations…[and emphasizing] the United States’ entrepreneurial excellence.”

Black Lotus will be attending the Red Herring North America Forum from May 14 to 16 in Monterey, California to present our company’s strategy, and the top 100 winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on the final night.

The Security Industry’s Coveted Excellence Award Winners and Finalists from all over the world were honored by Info Security Products Guide in San Francisco on February 24, 2014

Black Lotus announced today that Info Security Products Guide, the industry's leading information security research and advisory guide, has named Black Lotus, a Silver and Bronze winner of the 2014 Global Excellence Awards in the Best Overall Security Company of the Year and Awesome Product of the Year categories. The security industry celebrated its 10th Annual 2014 Global Excellence Awards in San Francisco by honoring excellence in every facet of the industry including products, people behind the successes and best companies.

More than 50 judges from a broad spectrum of industry voices from around the world participated and their average scores determined the 2014 Global Excellence Awards Finalists and Winners. Winners were announced during the awards dinner and presentation on February 24, 2014 in San Francisco attended by the finalists, judges and industry peers.

Black Lotus was recognized by ISPG for its Protection for Networks (PFN) service which enables any service provider or enterprise anywhere in the world to enable DDoS mitigation on their networks by rapidly turning up a GRE tunnel or connecting directly with Black Lotus at an on-net datacenter. PFN is differentiated from other DDoS protection services by the ability to use the service full time or on demand without any additional fees due to frequency of attacks or other metrics. Additionally, PFN has been particularly popular with service providers as it can be used to resell DDoS protection services on networks which do not have native DDoS mitigation capabilities.

Earlier this month Black Lotus customers were protected against otherwise crippling NTP DDoS attacks exceeding 400 Gbps in size when the company implemented global policies to block these attacks, even for customers which did not subscribe to larger mitigation plans.

Black Lotus' patent-pending Human Behavior Analysis (HBA) is recognized in the Best Emerging Technology category, which acknowledges companies with superior security products that help customers tackle today’s most pressing information technology (IT) challenges.
